With 2 out of three tuesdays and no bar, will the committee finally give thought to the suggestion of franchising the operation of the club bar & catering facility?
Take an ad in the local paper and invite bids from prospective franchises to run the catering and bar facilities for the HSSC which currently has an annual turnover of £X with the potential for £Y (2-3x £X) if the club were fully open three nights per week and both days of the weekend with breakfast and lunch an option.
Further turnover could also be then generated by having something to actually offer Social members rather than the current dismal waste of space of prime seafrontage..
Another suggestion that other clubs use to further their service facilities is the 'free' membership available in return for Race Officer/Recorders and Rescue Boat and maintenance operatives.
It's bad enough I'm expected to pay the £200+ family membership and boat/board storage to be overly handicapped, offered crap courses, have my water tacked in and be generally rule abused by fellow members, that much I can just about bear, but deny me a beer when I come off the water after a sunny evening pump fest and not only do you lose revenue, you potentially stand to lose another member... _________________ Surf Sales Ltd |
